Septaria is a semiprecious stone that belongs to the family of organic stones, as it is composed of a mixture of minerals and organic material. Particularly, it is formed by the sedimentation process of marine organisms remains that come into contact with minerals of the water and sediment. For this reason, septaria is often considered a fossil stone, as it contains traces of ancient marine life. Septaria can have different colours, including brown, yellow, orange and red, depending on the amount of limonite. Also, depending on the level of polishing and brushing, its surface can be opaque or lustrous. This stone is highly aesthetic and its unique structure makes it an ideal stone for decorative objects such as sculptures and vases.
