Description

Selenite is a type of transparent or whitish gesso composed mainly of calcium sulphate. Its hardness value is 2 on the Mohs scale and it is characterised by a vitreous lustre.

It has white streaks or bands and sometimes an hourglass shape. It forms in evaporite formations such as salt deposits and salt lakes. It can also be found in caves as a result of calcium sulphate deposits.

Selenite is known for its purifying properties and for increasing energy. It is often used for decorations and jewellery. Selenite is believed to help with meditation and connecting with your higher self, and is used for decorations thanks to its beauty and ability to reflect light in unique ways.
