Description

Lapislazuli is a deep blue semiprecious stone, often characterised by the presence of golden or white pyrite. It has a vitreous lustre and a granular, fine-grained or medium-grained crystalline structure. Lapislazuli has this colour because of the presence of aluminium and sodium sulphide, while pyrite and calcite give the stone a unique beauty and a wide range of shades. It can be found in many parts of the world, including Afghanistan, Chile, Russia, Italy and the United States. Lapislazuli is both a historically and culturally significant stone. Back in ancient times, it was considered a precious stone and was highly valued in Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece and Rome. It was used for sacred items, jewels and decorative objects. Lapislazuli was believed to have healing, protective and spiritual properties, and was often used in medicine and spiritual practices. Today, lapislazuli is also used in crystal therapy thanks to its properties of balance, harmony and mindfulness.
