Description

Brown Petrified Wood is a wood fossil that has been turned into stone by a mineralisation process. In this process, the original compounds and cellulose of the wood are replaced by minerals such as silica, limestone or hematite, but the original structure and texture remain.

Thanks to this process, brown petrified wood is a hard and resistant material that retains the original texture and shape of the wood but has a petrified appearance.

This type of fossil is found in many parts of the world, but comes mainly from the deserts of Arizona, New Mexico and Texas in the USA.

Brown petrified wood is often used for decorations and, thanks to its hardness and resistance, it's also used for flooring and wall coverings indoors and outdoors.
