Intense. Like a volcano. From poppy to terracotta, streaked with luminous veins like crystallized lava, this is a vibrant and powerful stone, adding a bold touch to any space.

Carnelian is a semi-precious stone that forms in volcanic rocks from iron-rich acidic magma. It is typically classified into two types: the darker red “male” carnelian, and the lighter “female” carnelian with golden orange-brown hues. The name “Carnelian” comes from the Latin word Cornum, referring to the cornel cherry tree, which bears red fruits similar in color to the mineral. The most prized variety is the red-orange type, whose coloration is due to the presence of iron oxides. When gently heated, the stone’s color intensifies, returning to its original shade once cooled.
