Dark. Yet shining and mysterious. The Black Carnelian is a shadow that reflects the light. From absolute black to smoky brown, with bronze reflections, this stone exudes charm in any environment.

Carnelian is a semi-precious stone that forms in volcanic rocks from iron-rich acidic magma. It is typically classified into two types: the darker red “male” carnelian, and the lighter “female” carnelian with golden orange-brown hues. The name “Carnelian” comes from the Latin word Cornum, referring to the cornel cherry tree, which bears red fruits similar in color to the mineral. The most prized variety is the red-orange type, whose coloration is due to the presence of iron oxides. When gently heated, the stone’s color intensifies, returning to its original shade once cooled.
